A new category at this year’s in-Cumbria Business Awards is set to profile the finest in nuclear – NRL Director Rebecca Graves tells in-Cumbria business magazine In-Cumbria business magazine.
Cumbria has a long-standing nuclear heritage, having providing employment for generations of families as well as attracting new people into the Cumbrian region. In a new addition to the awards roster for this year’s in-Cumbria Business Awards, NRL director Rebecca Graves was delighted to see a new accolade dedicated to the nuclear sector, the NRL Nuclear Ambassador Award.
“The nuclear legacy is clear to see across Cumbria, thanks to thousands of job opportunities Sellafield has provided over the decades and the wide-reaching supply chain who provide a huge range of invaluable services and expertise to the power station. What’s also exciting to see is that there is a strong appetite to collaborate to deliver new innovations and projects that demonstrate how nuclear can play its part in future low carbon energy production to meet net zero targets.

It’s this hive of activity that prompted Rebecca to work with in-Cumbria to create the new NRL Nuclear Ambassador Award.
“There will certainly be a very long list of people and initiatives that will be worthy of winning the new award thanks to the impact they have made, and the most difficult part for us will be deciding on just one. That’s a testament to the people working across Cumbria who are helping to raise the profile of the sector, giving back to their local community and ensuring our region is represented on a national level for its capability and ambition.
We’re very much looking forward to this year’s awards ceremony and revealing our inaugural nuclear ambassador.”
The winners of each of the award category, including the NRL Nuclear Ambassador Award, will be revealed at the in-Cumbria Business Awards at Dalston Hall on Thursday 13th November 2025
