Celebrating one year working with the CD Group

This February marks one year since the NRL Group acquired CD Group and their associated businesses Contract Design and Eldon Bureau based in Gosforth, Newcastle. The strategic acquisition helped to widen NRL’s service offering by introducing Norwegian and Design specialist Recruitment capability and Language Solutions.

Since then, colleagues have been working collaboratively and identifying ways to drive efficiencies. Centred around this continued improvement focus is a shared interest in strengthening service and experience for clients, candidates and stakeholders.

Discussing the operations, Regional Director Emma Lowden said,

“We’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone over the last 12 months, and it’s great to now see the Gosforth based colleagues interacting with other branches in our region and colleagues across the NRL Group.
Like with every acquisition it’s taken time to fully understand their operations, clients and business services – and we’re now able to work together to identify growth opportunities and back office improvements.
By joining the NRL Group the team now have access to a wealth of support and a mature business infrastructure to allow them to set even higher aspirations for both commercial and personal progression.”

One year on, we take a look at their services in more detail.

Delivering Norwegian Recruitment expertise

The Recruitment team have an impressive growing list of projects they support for organisations based in Norway. Whether that’s recruiting people to work over in Norway to support client projects, or here in their UK offices helping remotely.

From their Gosforth office on the outskirts of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, a range of specialist engineering and technical recruitment services are delivered. Supporting both temporary and permanent placements, including recruiting trained professionals to work on high-profile projects across sectors such as conventional power, renewables and oil, gas and petrochemical.

Supporting temporary workers operating in Norway, a recent partnership with an in-country tax and payroll provider allows organisations to retain expat talent from the UK with full compliance.

Delivering Design Services expertise

Following the acquisition, we welcomed a new service into the NRL Group, with the introduction of the design services the Gosforth team deliver to their clients.

Having worked with engineering companies for decades, Business Development Manager Huw Guariento is a specialist when it comes to understanding the design and draughting services needs to support project delivery. Through his recruitment service he identifies the most experienced designers with the right industry expertise and design application knowledge to work for clients. From placing a temporary contractor to assist with the creation of a handful of technical drawings, to resourcing an entire design team to work on longer term projects.

We’re delighted to offer this recruitment service to all customers across the NRL Group, helping to set the foundations for a successful project.

Delivering Translation and Interpreting expertise

We were also pleased to welcome the language solutions expertise of the Eldon (now NRL Language Solutions) business team into the NRL Group. From the very first meeting it was clear to see their passion for translation and interpreting and the care and attention they give to their clients with an industry leading level of service.

A busy team of two, clients from the North East and across the UK rely on them for time-sensitive language services, including their ability to draw on their trusted team of experienced linguists to translate documentation into more than 135 languages. From a few short paragraphs for a website, to lengthy documents, all Translation work is certified by the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI).

Whilst Interpreting services can be booked face-to-face or remotely to attend meetings and ensure everyone can follow the discussion.

We’re already seeing many practical examples of how we can support clients across the wider NRL Group with translation and interpreting services.
